Supporting Students with Speech to Text

Question: 

Is there a feature that allows students to speak to tutors instead of type in the chat?

Answer: 

Although students cannot speak to tutors directly, many devices have built-in features that will allow students to dictate their messages. If they are working on a phone or iPad, students can easily access the microphone on their keyboard (shown below) .This allows students to speak their question which will be transcribed into text that they can easily send to the tutor! 

Students should be sure to allow the “dictation” feature in the pop up bubble and allow Paper to use speech recognition in order for this to work!

If students need support in reading messages from tutors, we suggest using the Google extension Read&Write on their Google Chrome Browser to highlight the text bubbles and have them read aloud to them!
